OUR STORY
The Lacrosse Barn is a premier lacrosse performance facility, spanning 3.3 acres with two buildings and over 80k square feet dedicated to the lacrosse athlete. Our aim is to offer a top-tier lacrosse experience, enhancing the potential of every athlete we mentor. Teaming up with elite strength and conditioning coaches, and physical therapists, our mission is to deliver the finest training experience in the lacrosse world, crafted by lacrosse players, for lacrosse players.
Nick Tintle began his training journey at Athletes Choice in 2012, mentored by Kevin and Maria Hickman as the director of lacrosse performance. By 2013, he took ownership and managed it until 2022. Nick significantly influenced the lacrosse community in Southern California. AC stood out as one of the nation's first establishments concentrating mainly on lacrosse athlete performance and development. Through his guidance, thousands of lacrosse athletes reached their peak potential, advancing to college-level play. Beyond athletic growth, he cultivated a community that spotlighted Southern California in the lacrosse landscape. Nick's mission extended beyond the game, teaching life lessons and empowering athletes for success during and beyond their playing careers.
Nick Tintle's tenure at UNC had its challenges. Although he joined with ambitions of winning a National Championship, his team faced significant setbacks, including not winning an ACC game throughout his four-year stint. Despite a rocky start, with the team ranked 3rd and missing the playoffs his freshman year, and facing team attrition by his junior year, Nick stepped into a leadership role. Under his guidance, the team reached the playoffs in his junior and senior years, making it to the quarter-finals and experiencing a first-round upset, respectively. Nick's accolades include being a 2x All American, winning the Turnbull Trophy, serving as team captain, and getting drafted to the San Francisco Dragons in 2008's MLL pro draft. From his time at UNC, he realized the paramount importance of culture over talent and the value of effective leadership—lessons he later applied in building his business.
Despite starting high school at 5'4" and 119 lbs., Nick Tintle faced doubters who believed he was too small for varsity sports. Rather than letting it deter him, he used it as motivation. Committed to proving himself, he initiated the 'breakfast club', lifting weights at 5:30 am every day from his sophomore year on. His dedication saw him gain significant weight each off-season. In football, his achievements included leading his school to its first county championship in 2003, being a 2x All County selection, breaking 11 school records, rushing over 2,000 yards in his senior year, and several other accolades. In lacrosse, he became a 2x all-county selection, held every scoring record at his school, and earned numerous awards, including midfielder of the year and All-American honors his senior year. His exceptional performance secured him a scholarship to play Division 1 lacrosse at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.
Nick Tintle hails from Levittown, NY, and grew up in a hardworking, blue-collar family. Despite facing financial challenges, Nick's parents ensured he and his sister had everything they needed. His father, transitioning from Grumman's to working in construction, also coached Nick in youth sports, setting high expectations and emphasizing resilience and work ethic. This rigorous training wasn't just for sports but was preparation for life's challenges. Nick's grandfather, a legendary figure in the Levittown Red Devils football program, coached and mentored countless players, leaving a lasting impact now being documented in a film. Nick believes coaching runs in his family's DNA, and he's proud to continue this legacy.
